Feed barley introduction:

Barley is the most common feed grain after wheat specifically in cold and moderate regions which should consist minimum protein of 10 to 12 percent and fiber if 4.5 percent (Cause better digestion).

As far as barley does not contain Vitamin A and D and at the other hand it is forming 30 to 50 percent of livestock’s feed concentrate, therefore it increases milk’s protein amount.

Barley life cycle is one year and coming from Gramineae’s family. Plantation history of this plant probably has been started from Ethiopia and East south of Asia however many researchers do believe that the plant itself has come from Zagros mountain at west of Iran, South Anatoli and Palestine.
Barley is commonly need smooth climate, fertile soil capable to keep water for long period with PH range of 7 to 8 to produce best result. Need to mention barley is more resistant in dryness in comparison with wheat which can be counted as an advantage for places with water supply limitation. The level under barley plant in Iran is ranking second place comparing wheat for the reason of water limitation, coldness and saltiness. Despite all this advantages mentioned for barley, it is good to know this plant should be used with forage to prevent digestion issue and PH reduction for livestock.
The best harvest time is when the grain moisture is about 30 to 40 percent but due to storage problem grains should be artificially dried to reduce volume and also prevent warming which cause contamination.
